Primary objective
Lead, manage, develop, and implement market engagement strategies to achieve the goals of the department, including
international market engagement, forecasting, and reporting.
Context statement
As part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team this role operates with minimum supervision to initiate and lead market engagement
projects using modern communications channels and providing comprehensive marketing issues management and advisory
services, including the management of communications enquiries and liaison with the minister's office, senior executives and
external stakeholders as required. This role works closely with the Assistant Director and is supported by a team.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Identify, plan for, create and implement a range of market engagement activities, such as public awareness campaigns,
promotional activities and digital communication materials, consistent with government policies and strategies.
2. Lead planning and implementation of strategic internal and external market engagement projects across department areas.
3. Support marketing activities and team coordination and respond to crisis communication requirements in a positive, calm and
flexible manner.
4. Ensure programs meet and adhere to Northern Territory Government branding, digital, communication and procurement
policies and guidelines.
5. Ensure all market engagement activities are leveraged across suitable promotional channels to maximise reach.
6. Establish strong working relationships with stakeholders, including industry, and agency experts to build understanding of
agency initiatives, issues and sensitivities, and being responsive to stakeholder needs and expectations.
7. Work closely with the Assistant Director to provide comprehensive marketing advice, using sound investigation to gather and
analyse information from diverse sources, with consideration of public and political implications.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
2. Excellent theoretical and practical understanding of contemporary marketing principles and practices.
3. Proven track record in formulating and implementing effective marketing and communication campaigns and engagement
activities targeting international markets.
4. Practical knowledge of marketing tools and processes, including the use of a diverse range of media in community
consultation and communication strategies.
1. Manage the delivery of marketing projects and activities, including planning and logistics, resource allocation and
consideration of media, political and stakeholder implications in line with the objectives, strategic directions and priorities of
the whole of government.
1. High level interpersonal skills conducive to maintaining open and effective relationships with a range of clients including
senior executives, managers, departmental staff, the Minister's office, consultants and industry.
1. An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the NTG procurement processes, systems, and practices, particularly with regard to creative services.
1. Hold relevant qualifications in marketing and communications or a relevant discipline.
