We are seeking suitable applicants to join the team as Emergency Senior Resident Medical Officers (SRMOs) at the Royal Hobart Hospital in 2027.

Role Overview As one of our SRMOs you will provide emergency care to patients attending the Emergency Department (ED). You will learn, grow, and develop as a confident junior doctor, demonstrating the skills and knowledge gained throughout the year. Experience and skills gained will support career pathways in emergency medicine, critical care specialities, or general practice.
Your roster will align with the Registrar roster with day, evening, and night shifts across all areas of the department including resus. SRMOs have access to a teaching program and are specifically rostered to facilitate attendance. Rostering is flexible to help maintain a work‑life balance, and part‑time needs can be accommodated.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment and management of Emergency Department patients
Care of patients admitted to the Emergency Medical Unit (EMU)
Involvement in quality‑assurance activities
Participation in the whole‑cohort education program and additional training for Emergency Medicine Certificate or Diploma candidates
Essential Requirements
Registration with the Medical Board of Australia and eligibility to work as a Senior Resident Medical Officer
Current driver’s licence (desirable)

Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Fixed term, full‑time (and part‑time hours available), working up to 76 hours per fortnight
Commencing from 1 February 2027 to 8 February 2028 (earlier commencement from 3 August 2026 may be considered)
