This position requires expertise in translating architectural concepts into fabrication-ready documentation for complex aluminum and steel facade installations.
Position Overview
This role goes beyond traditional drafting, requiring sophisticated technical coordination between architects, engineers, fabricators, and clients. The successful candidate will manage the complete documentation process from concept resolution through to CNC/laser cutting fabrication outputs, while implementing advanced digital coordination workflows and project management systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development & Technical Resolution
Translate architectural concept designs into buildable, fabrication-ready solutions, resolving technical, budgetary, and constructability challenges through iterative coordination with architects and clients
Develop comprehensive working drawings, shop drawings, and installation documentation for architecturally designed facades, balustrades, railings, screening systems, and custom architectural metalwork
Create fabrication documentation that feeds directly to CNC machines and laser cutting equipment, ensuring precision and manufacturability
Perform on-site laser scanning and integrate survey data into digital documentation workflows
Advanced Digital Modeling & Documentation
Produce complex 3D models and fabrication-level details using advanced Revit capabilities, including custom family creation and modification
Develop coordinated documentation sets that integrate architectural intent with fabrication requirements and installation sequencing
Maintain organized digital file management systems and establish documentation standards across projects
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Management
Coordinate extensively with external consulting engineers (structural, facade), architects, builders, developers, and internal fabrication teams to ensure designs meet all technical requirements
Manage design iterations based on material availability, cost constraints, site conditions, and installation methodology
Lead value engineering efforts to optimise designs for fabrication efficiency, material usage, and installation feasibility
Attend site meetings and coordination sessions with project stakeholders
Systems Implementation & Process Improvement
Implement and manage digital project coordination systems and workflows to improve efficiency on larger-scale projects
Establish standardised processes for documentation, quality control, and project delivery
Drive adoption of integrated digital delivery methodologies within the organisation
