Job Description

The importance of water to the health of our world can't be overstated. As the frequency and intensity of floods, droughts and storms increases, the water industry must continue to build resiliency and lead from the front. Together with our clients, we are thinking and doing things differently to help pre-empt and prepare for what's next.

Be a part of this dynamic and committed team of diverse water specialists and drive change for your community. You'll be able to apply our powerful global network of skills and decades of experience to create positive water outcomes that respect nature and nurture communities. We are seeking a Senior Civil or Mechanical Engineer with a track record in delivering water and/or wastewater projects in either networks or treatment plants.

You will manage the design of small to medium sized projects as well as develop your technical skills by working as part of the design team or assisting the design manager for large projects. You will bring an appetite for building and maintaining strong client relationships and a passion for delivering as part of a high performing team. You will play a key role in delivery of ambitious and interesting projects, allowing you a balance of technical work, design management, project management, operational support, business development and client engagement.

Responsibilities

You will manage the design of small to medium sized projects as well as develop your technical skills by working as part of the design team or assisting the design manager for large projects.

* Delivering various and significant NSW, Australian and international water and wastewater projects (either networks or treatment plants), by understanding clients' needs, providing technical guidance and support to the project team for small, medium and large‑scale projects (capex in the 100's of millions)
* Technical leadership and project management to guide key projects and mentoring other team members
* Using your technical and client relationship skills for the delivery of proposals, investigations and technical design projects
* Understanding client and project technical requirements, assisting to develop solutions, and preparation of technical reports, designs & specifications, client proposals and presentations
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships, including business development, and engagement throughout project delivery
* Working closely with our clients to develop innovative technical solutions in wastewater and water treatment

What you will bring to the team

* Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, coupled with between 8 and 12 years of relevant water or wastewater experience in either networks or treatment plants
* The ability to lead and/or work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team across the project lifecycle
* Strong client relationship skills, project management skills, and experience in preparing winning proposals
* Design or planning skills in water or wastewater networks or treatment, including producing technical reports, developing engineering drawings, specifications and tender documentation for water or wastewater treatment infrastructure
* Experience with using civil or hydraulic design software is preferable
* Project management or design management experience, together with a willingness and ability to mentor and provide direction to junior staff

We value wellness and flexibility; your role can be part-time or full-time, and you can be based in Newcastle or any of our other Northern NSW offices (Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Tuggerah, Tamworth, Orange or Lismore). Interested? Apply now with your CV and a Cover Letter.
