About The Role
As a Rural Ranger, you'll be on the frontline protecting our region's land, animals, and biosecurity.
You'll work outdoors, engage with the community, and ensure compliance with important laws covering:
Animal and pest management
Stock route control
Local laws and biosecurity
Environmental protection and weed control
You'll also support ranger services, help maintain animal management facilities, and respond to local issues such as abandoned vehicles, overgrown lots, and wandering livestock.
Responsibilities
Carry out compliance checks and provide expert advice
Handle and manage animals and pests humanely and safely
Collaborate across teams to improve environmental outcomes
Maintain clear records and respond to public enquiries
Monitor and manage stock routes and pest activity
Assist with grant applications for rural projects
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience in pest and livestock management, enforcement, or rural compliance
Confident communicator with good judgement
Strong time management and teamwork skills
Basic computer skills
Knowledge of local government operations and relevant legislation
Driver's licence (C class)
Working with Children (Blue Card) (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
Willingness to obtain licences/certifications:
Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) statement of attainment and Commercial Operators Licence
Pest Management (Apply Poison Baits for Vertebrate Pest Control in Rural and Environmental Landscapes) statement of attainment and relevant substance authority
Local Government Worker and Authorised Person training (training provided upon commencement)
