We are a successful civil contracting business who has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.
As a progressive, leading civil engineering firm built on the strong foundations of our unique history, we engage, enable and empower our people to be better. With you, we are altogether stronger, in building the future we want.
Come on board as a Safety Coordinator within our Safety team and become a vital contributor to our g project at Clyde Road Upgrade.
Clyde Road Upgrade is a high-impact infrastructure project transforming a key arterial route over the Princes (Monash) Freeway. Spanning 1.2 km, the upgrade includes widening Clyde Road to three lanes each way and a full interchange overhaul to improve access to hospitals, Berwick Station, and the growing Health and Education Precinct. Works include new pavement construction, drainage upgrades, flood mitigation, major intersection works, and service relocations. A major structural component is the widening of the freeway bridge, involving piling, structural concrete, and steel beam installation, a challenging scope ideal for engineers ready to get hands-on with complex civil and structural works.
We're after a Safety Coordinator who's passionate about creating safer work environments and supporting teams on-site. In this role, you'll help drive a strong safety culture by working closely with project teams, conducting site inspections, assisting with incident investigations, mentoring staff, and making sure everything we do meets Seymour Whyte's safety standards and legislative requirements. If you enjoy being hands-on, solving problems, and making sure everyone gets home safely, this is the role for you
About the role:
* Ensure Compliance and Training: Understand and stay current with all Seymour Whyte policies, procedures, and compliance training relevant to your role.
* Enhance Site Health and Safety: Mentor site personnel to improve safety standards and conduct site inspections, providing actionable feedback and recommendations.
* Support Project Management: Assist Project Managers in developing and maintaining safety systems, procedures, and strategies while managing risks and opportunities for safety improvements.
* Investigate Incidents and Provide Corrective Actions: Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents, advising on corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences.
* Promote a Strong Safety Culture: Foster a transparent, proactive safety culture on-site and ensure compliance with up-to-date legislation, industry standards, and technological innovations.
We have a range of additional benefits available for our employees:
* Health & Wellbeing - discounted health insurance, seasonal vaccinations, wellness discounts, fertility benefit and employee assistance program (EAP).
* Time for life / Work life balance - birthday leave, purchased leave program, paid parental leave and flexible work arrangements.
* Financial wellbeing - competitive remuneration, annual performance bonuses, salary continuance insurance and employee share program.
* Career development - training, mentoring programs, and leadership development program.
Many of our projects are located in regional areas, therefore all applicants must hold a current Driver's Licence and have their own transport.
Seymour Whyte is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including veterans. Our commitment to an equitable construction industry extends to an inclusive culture that embraces our differences and gives everyone the opportunity to grow and be equally valued. We're unified in our direction toward having a workplace that is balanced and fair for all.
