Responsibilities
As a Principal Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading a variety of technical network planning engagements aligned with Australia’s energy transition.
- Overseeing modelling, analysis, and recommendations for high-voltage transmission system planning and investments.
- Aligning decisions with organisational strategies and ensuring practical, impactful outcomes.
- Managing contractual aspects of third-party service providers to guarantee compliance with engineering standards.
- Persuading and influencing stakeholders effectively with robust, data-backed insights.
- Acting as a trusted representative of company policies to external stakeholders.
- Reviewing and improving the accuracy of internal procedural documentation.
- Contributing to project scoping, defining objectives, and outlining requirements.
- Offering technical mentorship to team members, including junior engineers.
- Driving strategic growth and development within the Planning Department.
- Introducing innovative tools and technologies to optimise operations.
- Establishing and implementing procedures that support department and company objectives.
- Effectively coordinating and critically reviewing outputs from external partners.
Qualifications
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- A degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in network planning or a related domain.
- Advanced technical expertise in high-voltage transmission systems.
- A proven track record of project management and team leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly convey complex ideas to stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and consultation skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
