About The Role
As part of the Ventia Court Security and Custody Services contract with the Department of Justice, we are seeking a Court Security Manager to lead the team in Kununurra, WA. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the role will lead the team and provide vital support in the delivery of an effective and efficient court operation. You will ensure the correct deployment of staff across the region and be responsible for the day-to-day performance of the Deputy Court Security Manager and Court & Custody Officers who fall under your management. This role is offered as a full-time permanent opportunity, with some flexibility around working hours required due to the operational nature of courts.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with Court Officials in the area to ensure contractual requirements are met
- Ensure suitable and sufficient resources are available in the Court and Custody areas
- Inspect and monitor court operations to ensure compliance
- Deliver a high standard of service delivery while maintaining staff and PiC (Persons in custody) welfare, safety & security
- Ensure all warrants are checked in line with documented procedures
- Inspect and check Court premises to ensure the effectiveness and tidiness of security systems
- Maintain emergency procedures and ensure that staff are aware of their responsibilities
- Monitor the submission of incident reports within the timeframes required
- Set clear direction and objectives for direct reports
- Represent Ventia at Court User Group Meetings

Skills And Experience
- Certificate III or IV in Corrective Practice or related field
- Control and Restraint qualified
- Senior First Aid and CPR or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret correspondence, legislations, and regulations
- High level of computer skills and report writing
- Proven experience in a leadership role
- Collaborative management style and ability to forge productive internal and external working relationships
- Experience in an escort custody operational environment
- Strong focus on safety and security awareness
- Qualified demeanor with objectivity and balance in challenging environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to prepare briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise language
Mandatory Requirements
- An Australian Permanent Resident or Citizen
- The ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Federal Police Check, Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check
- Ability to complete 6 weeks of full-time training in Perth prior to start in Kununurra (flights and accommodation provided)
- Undergo a pre-employment medical including a drug & alcohol test
- Manual Driving Licence - Desirable (HR, MR licence or F Extension category highly desirable for operating vehicles carrying passengers)
- Willingness to travel (road and air)
- Ability to maintain a reasonable level of fitness to undertake the inherent requirements of the role
What We Offer
- $107,431 Total fixed remuneration (Base Salary plus Super)
- $5,943 extra Per Annum Regional Allowance
- Paid accommodation for 2 years
