Wodonga Council is seeking a highly qualified and independent professional to serve as an External Independent Chair of its Audit and Risk Committee for a fixed three-year term. This statutory committee plays a pivotal advisory role in upholding the principles of transparency, integrity, and sound governance across Council operations.
As an External Independent Chair, you will help guide Council's approach to financial management, risk oversight, internal control, compliance, and ethical practice. Your contribution will support effective decision-making and build public trust in local government.
About the Committee
The Audit and Risk Committee is a statutory advisory body providing independent oversight of Council's financial reporting, risk management, compliance obligations, and internal audit functions.
The Committee supports Council in identifying, managing and mitigating strategic and operational risks, ensuring legislative compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
The Committee comprises three independent members and two Councillor representative and is supported by senior executive staff.
The Committee meets quarterly, with additional meetings convened as necessary.

What You Will Bring
We are seeking applicants with:
Availability for a three-year term of appointment.
Demonstrated expertise in financial management, risk oversight and governance, preferably with public sector experience; and
High-level analytical and strategic thinking skills, sound judgement, and a commitment to ethical practice.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a current National Police Check
