The opportunity
As our Management Accountant, you'll lead the development of key financial reports for Council and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), provide strategic analysis and modelling, and embed a business partnering approach across a designated directorate. You'll drive budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting, strengthen our management accounting frameworks, and champion continuous improvement in our systems and processes.
What You'll Be Doing
* Prepare timely, insightful financial reports for ELT and Council, including quarterly adjustments, projections and legislative reporting.
* Partner with SLT leaders as the Finance Business Support Partner—support budgets, year‑to‑date reviews and year‑end forecasting.
* Lead financial modelling, cost/benefit analysis and service review costing to inform operational and strategic decisions.
* Maintain and enhance management accounting frameworks, budgeting and reporting processes, and GL structures aligned to internal/external reporting needs.
* Contribute as a senior member of the Finance team, briefing the CFO on emerging issues and performance trends.
What You'll Need To Succeed
* Tertiary qualification in commerce, business, accounting or related discipline; CPA/CA desirable.
* Advanced capability in strategic financial analysis, long‑term planning, budgeting and forecasting, with strong modelling skills.
* Deep understanding of Australian Accounting Standards; local government knowledge advantageous.
* Proven experience in management accounting within government or large organisations, with excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
