2027 international paediatric surgery fellow

Position Summary

International Fellow in the Department of Paediatric Surgery, commencing August (2 positions) or October (1 position) 2027 for 12 months.

Responsibilities

Involved in a broad range of planned and emergency paediatric surgical care that will include trauma, burns, urology, hepatobiliary surgery, neonatal surgery, oncology surgery, colorectal surgery and thoracic surgery, appropriate to experience and training requirements.

Participate in the onsite first‐on‐call roster under the direction and supervision of consultant surgeons, covering a dedicated night shift, weekends and Department of Urology. Frequency of on‐call is usually 1:9. Positions are fully funded including overtime.

Work in conjunction with a local trainee in one of four surgical teams. Junior staff are routinely rotated through teams for six‐month terms but may request a dedicated 12‐month placement. Internal coverage allows broad experience across the Department.

Eligibility & Qualifications

* Exposure to a comparable volume and complexity of paediatric surgery.
* Demonstration of clinical excellence.
* An interest in research with a record of academic performance.
* Experience working in comparable health care systems.
* Involvement in international meetings, workshops and courses.
* Long‐term career goals that would benefit from a year at RCH.
* At a suitable career stage for fellowship.
* Ability to satisfy the English language requirement for Australian medical registration.

* Current curriculum vitae.
* Two references from either a paediatric surgeon at current hospital or a previous paediatric surgical training director.

Vaccination & Health Requirements
