Position Overview:

The Child Care Centre Director is responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of a small child care centre. This includes overseeing the implementation of educational programs, managing staff, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and fostering a positive and nurturing environment for children, staff, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the daily operations of the child care centre, ensuring a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment.

Manage enrolments, maintain accurate records, and handle administrative duties such as scheduling, billing, and reporting.

Ensure the centre is well-maintained and equipped with necessary supplies and materials.

Educational Program Management:

Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs that meet the developmental needs of children.

Ensure that the curriculum is age-appropriate, engaging, and in line with national or regional early childhood education standards.

Monitor and assess children's progress, providing support where needed.

Staff Supervision and Development:

Recruit, train, and supervise child care staff, ensuring they provide high-quality care and education.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.

Foster a positive team environment, addressing any staff concerns promptly.

Family and Community Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with families, ensuring effective communication and involvement in their children's learning and development.

Organize and participate in community outreach activities to promote the centre.

Handle any family concerns or issues with sensitivity and professionalism.

Compliance and Licensing:

Ensure the centre complies with all relevant regulations, including licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and child protection laws.

Prepare for and successfully pass inspections and audits.

Stay informed of changes in regulations and update centre policies as needed.

Oversee the centre's budget, including income, expenses, and payroll, ensuring financial sustainability.

Manage enrolment processes to maintain optimal occupancy levels.

Handle billing and fee collection, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Health and Safety:

Ensure a safe and healthy environment by implementing and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures.

Conduct regular safety drills and ensure staff are trained in emergency response protocols.

Address any health and safety issues immediately.

Quality Assurance:

Implement quality assurance processes to continually improve the centre's educational and operational outcomes.

Gather feedback from families and staff to identify areas for improvement.

Regularly review and update centre policies, procedures, and practices.

Qualifications:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and practices.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Knowledge of local child care regulations and licensing requirements.

The role is typically based within the child care centre and may require occasional work outside standard hours to meet the needs of the centre or attend community events.

The Director works closely with children, staff, and families, ensuring a supportive and collaborative environment.
