About the Role

Located in the heart of Cooma, the gateway to the stunning Snowy Mountains, Hudson House and Yallambee Lodge offer more than just a place to work — they offer a community. This region delivers the perfect balance of lifestyle and career opportunity.

Hudson House, originally opened in 1995, is a warm and welcoming aged care home featuring 40 private rooms, each with its own ensuite to ensure comfort, dignity, and privacy for every resident. The home prides itself on a supportive culture where residents and staff alike feel valued and respected.

Alongside Hudson House, Yallambee Lodge provides a comprehensive range of care services, including specialised palliative care, supporting residents with complex personal and medical needs. The facility is well equipped to deliver higher levels of care, making it an ideal environment for healthcare professionals looking to expand their skills and make a meaningful difference.

In this Casual Food Services Cook / Assistant role, you will play an important part in delivering nutritious, well-presented meals and creating a welcoming dining experience for residents. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals, supporting menu planning, serving food and beverages, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety. Working collaboratively with the kitchen team, you will help ensure that residents receive quality meals that meet their dietary needs while contributing to a warm, homely environment.


No two days are the same As Food Services Cook / Food Services Assistant, you will:

* Prepare, cook, present, and serve nutritious, high-quality meals and beverages in line with residents' dietary needs and the Food Safety Program (FSP).
* Collaborate with the Chef Supervisor, dietitians, Registered Nurses, and the General Manager to support menu planning and quality food service delivery.
* Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and maintain accurate food safety records, including temperature checks and goods received.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised kitchen by supporting cleaning, hygiene, and food safety standards.
* Deliver meals with a friendly, respectful approach, manage workload independently, and report any food-related concerns to the Registered Nurse in Charge.


About You

You'll thrive with us if you have:

* Trade Cook Certificate or equivalent qualification, with a current Food Handling Course and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
* Proven experience working in hospitality, ideally including experience in aged care food preparation.
* Sound knowledge of food safety standards and the ability to meet Aged Care Worker Screening legislative requirements.
* Current National Police Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
* Intermediate computer skills to support documentation and compliance requirements.
* Leadership experience in a kitchen or food services setting and/or Food Services Supervisor accreditation (highly desirable).
