About the Position
As a Bus Driver with Katherine $10Bus Pty Ltd, you will be the frontline representative of our community-focused transport service, safely operating buses along designated local routes to pick up and drop off passengers in Katherine East and nearby areas.
This full-time role is essential to maintaining the reliable, affordable connectivity that residents depend on in this remote location, ensuring every journey is conducted with the highest standards of safety, courtesy, and efficiency while contributing directly to the wellbeing of the local community.
Key Responsibilities
Stopping at set locations to pick up and set down passengers
Opening and closing doors before and after passengers board or alight
Controlling lighting, heating, and ventilation on buses for passenger comfort
Collecting fares, providing change and tickets, and monitoring electronic entry systems
Advising passengers on destinations and routes
Maintaining conduct of passengers to ensure a safe and pleasant environment
Using public address systems to provide information and announcements
Assisting passengers as needed, including with any special requirements
Ensuring the bus is kept clean and presentable
Requirements
Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
Certificate II in relevant field (e.g., Transport and Logistics or Bus Driving) or equivalent qualification.
At least 1 year of relevant experience as a bus driver or in a similar passenger transport role.
Valid Australian driver's licence appropriate for operating buses (e.g., MR or HR class with passenger endorsement where required).
Strong focus on road safety and defensive driving practices.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact courteously and patiently with diverse passengers.
Good communication skills, including clear verbal instructions and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently while adhering to schedules and company policies.
