At Southport Sharks, our people are the heart of our Club — and we’re looking for a dynamic General Manager – People & Culture who can lead with both empathy and expertise.
In this key leadership role, you’ll oversee the People & Culture department and play a hands-on role in shaping the employee experience across the organisation. You’ll be equally comfortable building trusted relationships on the floor as you are advising executives on strategy, legislation, and workforce planning.
Your leadership will strengthen our values-driven culture while supporting the operational needs of a fast-paced, diverse organisation. You’ll guide and develop managers, coach through people challenges, ensure compliance with legislation, and help create a workplace where every team member can thrive.
What you'll be doing:
* Be a visible and approachable presence across all areas of the Club
* Partner with the Executive and Management teams to align people strategies with business goals
* Coach leaders through performance, development and employee relations matters
* Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee engagement
* Manage complex ER/IR issues and ensure compliance with Fair Work, WHS and modern awards
* Contribute to planning, budgeting and reporting at an executive level
What we're looking for:
* A people-first leader with a minimum of 5 years in a senior HR role
* Proven ability to lead HR operations in a multi-faceted, fast-moving environment
* Strong understanding of employment legislation, ER/IR, and compliance
* Exceptional interpersonal skills — approachable, calm, and confident with all levels of staff
* Experience in hospitality, clubs or a similar industry is highly regarded
