The Opportunity
Veris are looking for a Principal GIS Consultant to join our dynamic Spatial Insights and Solutions Team in Perth. You will have a strong technical background in GIS and Geospatial project delivery, business development and mentoring. We want you to be interested in Geospatial in all forms; from large infrastructure projects, technical strategy delivery and roadmaps, to applying the latest spatial technology for edge cases or even applying GIS in non-traditional projects
About You
This is a senior individual contributor role, where you will be responsible for:
Identifying and developing new business opportunities for GIS and Geospatial
Leading delivery of significant geospatial projects for WA and nationally
Testing cutting-edge GIS proof-of-concept solutions;
Experimenting with new geospatial technologies.
You will also be a technical mentor, working as part of with the broader national GIS team of over 30 professionals at Veris.
You have:
Relevant tertiary qualification (Geographic Information Science, Geomatic Science/Engineering or Spatial Sciences, Computer Science/Engineering, Surveying) or other relevant geospatial degrees.
Minimum of 15 years' experience, preferably in the Architectural, Engineering or Construction industry and in the implementation of large, commercially successful GIS projects.
Extensive experience delivering government projects, both as a consultant or within in-house teams.
Established relationships with Government and Large Private Sector clients including (but not exclusively) Transport, Water, Defence and Resources.
Experience in designing and developing GIS solutions, including creating applications and visualisations, spatial database modelling, integrations, and analytical workflows.
Ability to consult with clients to highlight broader Veris capabilities including Application Development, Digital Twins and Digital Engineering.
Experience with GIS software suites (we are software agnostic - including, but not limited to, Esri, FME, and QGIS/open source); and experience with spatial coding / scripting / software development (e.g. Python, R, .Net, JavaScript).
Experience working on projects as a project manager or technical lead, supporting the team through mentorship and leadership
