About the role
Train toward a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical with a focus as a machinist through PEER and TAFE SA, with on‑the‑job experience at leading defence employers across South Australia. You'll learn to:
* Operate lathes, mills, grinders and CNC machines
* Read engineering drawings
* Complete precision machining and fitting
* Assemble, maintain and repair mechanical equipment
You'll receive full mentoring and support, plus a competitive wage, leave entitlements and superannuation. The position is ideal for school leavers, career changers, or anyone looking to build a career in defence.
About you
You're motivated, reliable and ready to commit to a 4‑year apprenticeship in the growing defence industry. You enjoy hands‑on work, problem‑solving, teamwork, and follow safety procedures. Strong computer and numeracy skills are essential.

Eligibility & requirements
Applicants must be eligible to obtain an appropriate level of defence security clearance as defined in the AGSVA guidelines.
