We are now seeking an experienced Labour Manager to take ownership of workforce planning, labour performance, and team leadership across our site.
About the Role
As Labour Manager, you will be responsible for the effective deployment, management, and engagement of a large and diverse workforce, ensuring labour is aligned to production demands while maintaining compliance, productivity, and a strong team culture.
You will also play a key role in applying LEAN principles across workforce practices to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and improve operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Labour Management & Workforce Planning
* Lead recruitment, onboarding, rostering, and performance of casual, seasonal, and permanent staff
* Develop workforce plans aligned to production and operational requirements
* Monitor labour KPIs including productivity, absenteeism, overtime, and labour costs
* Ensure compliance with enterprise agreements, WHS, and industrial legislation
* Provide strong leadership and coaching to supervisors and team leaders
* Foster a positive, engaged, and high-performing workforce culture
LEAN & Operational Efficiency
* Apply and embed LEAN principles to improve labour efficiency and workflow
* Coach leaders on LEAN tools such as 5S, standard work, and waste reduction
* Partner with operations to optimise labour deployment and productivity
Reporting & Compliance
* Report on labour performance, utilisation, and workforce trends
* Maintain accurate records in line with company policies and agreements
* Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all WHS requirements
Team Leadership
* Oversee day-to-day workforce coordination across shifts
* Conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks, and team briefings
* Support training, development, and performance management of staff
About You
You are a confident and capable people leader with proven experience managing large workforces in fast-paced environments such as manufacturing, agriculture, or logistics.
You will bring:
* Strong experience in labour management and workforce planning
* Sound, hands-on experience in LEAN principles (essential)
* Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and influence teams
* Strong understanding of industrial relations, compliance, and WHS
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
* Experience with workforce management systems and reporting tools
Essential Requirement:
* Fluent English – must be able to speak, read, and write clearly and effectively
Desirable:
* Tertiary qualifications in Business or Operations
* Experience in fresh produce, food production, or large-scale operations
