About This Role
You will make a real impact in national defence through advanced technology.
We are seeking a talented and driven software engineer to join our high-performing team focused on modernising and enhancing electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.
In this role, you'll contribute directly to cutting-edge software solutions that support frontline operations and defence readiness.
Key Responsibilities
* Design scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for radar signal processing and scientific/engineering applications.
* Implement data storage solutions using PostgreSQL and other relevant databases.
* Maintain and improve real-time radar signal processing algorithms in Java on Linux/Windows platforms.
* Sustain software including gathering requirements, design, development, testing, maintenance, configuration management, and quality control.
* Collaborate with the team using Agile tools to manage work and share knowledge.
* Develop verification/validation plans focusing on bug fixes and mitigating risks and issues related to system enhancements.
* Contribute to integrating front-end, back-end, and database architecture ensuring compatibility with existing systems and adherence to Defence policies.
* Assess software maintainability and overall adherence to user requirements, industry/defence standards, and sustainable practices.
* Develop documentation, training materials, and technical guides to support ongoing development and maintenance of software applications.
Requirements
* 5+ years experience in software development, testing, and maintenance.
* Experience working with web-based applications and modern software engineering practices.
* Comfort working in Linux and/or Windows environments.
* Demonstrated experience in EW and signal processing.
* Proven experience in data engineering including designing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes.
* Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Demonstrated stakeholder engagement experience.
* Defence experience.
Additional Information
This role is based on-site at RAAF Base Edinburgh, SA, with a requirement to attend 4–5 days per week.
