Job Role
The Event Medical Specialist plays a vital role in providing medical care at events across the North-East and the UK.
This diverse role offers experiences ranging from working alone at small, low-risk venues to managing crowds in temporary medical centres with large teams of multidisciplinary medical staff.
As a member of the event medical team, the primary focus will be delivering pre-hospital care to those who become ill or injured at large-scale events.
* Apply clinical knowledge and skills necessary to perform duties within their scope of practice
* Work confidently as a solo first responder and as part of a wider team
* Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests calmly, efficiently, and promptly
* Administer basic life support to patients at the scene, in a pre-hospital/pre-transport setting, in accordance with their clinical scope of practice
* Assess the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritise medical procedures
* Complete patient care forms, evaluation forms, and other required documentation in a timely and competent manner
* Clean, organise, and restock supplies after each use
* Respond to requests for emergency and non-emergency medical care at events and assist event staff with general tasks that support the event
* Handle radio communications professionally and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
* Work cooperatively with assisting agencies, including event staff, volunteers, security teams, ambulance services, event participants, and spectators
