Our client, a national organisation within the aviation sector, is currently seeking an ICT Infrastructure Project Manager for an initial 24‑month contract, paying $1,100/day, based at Brisbane Airport with flexibility to work from home two days per week. The role requires experience managing data centre projects involving hardware installs, upgrades, relocations, and disposal.
The Project
The Towers Technology Replacement Program replaces systems in Air Traffic Control Towers at nine locations across Australia, leveraging the latest technologies to optimise safety and efficiency.
Role Purpose
The Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex technical infrastructure installations involving multi‑disciplinary teams. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and budget, while maintaining strong stakeholder engagement and managing resource constraints effectively.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain detailed project plans covering scope, schedule, cost, and risk management.
* Manage tasks and resolve issues promptly to maintain project momentum.
* Coordinate acquisition, deployment, and installation of complex IT and operational technology hardware (e.g., racks, servers, networking, audio‑visual equipment).
* Lead and manage technical cutover and rollback planning for mission‑critical systems.
* Ensure compliance with WHS principles and safety procedures during all site activities.
* Engage and manage stakeholders across multiple technical disciplines (mechanical, electrical, network communications, radio, structural).
* Foster collaboration and problem‑solving in resource‑constrained environments.
Essential skills and experience
* Proven experience in Project Management fundamentals: detailed planning, cost, schedule, scope, and risk management.
* Strong stakeholder management skills and experience leading multi‑disciplinary technical teams.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to adapt and resolve challenges under pressure.
* Demonstrated experience in planning and managing acquisition and deployment of complex IT/OT hardware.
* Strong awareness and application of Work Health & Safety (WHS) principles in project delivery.
* Experience developing and managing technical cutover and rollback plans for mission‑critical systems.
Desirable skills and experience
* Experience managing data centre projects involving hardware installs, upgrades, relocations, and disposal.
* Knowledge of physical server, networking, security, storage, and ancillary equipment and their applications.
* Familiarity with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and experience working with protective and cyber security professionals.
