Remote Area Nurse (RAN) – Exciting Opportunity in Remote Locations, Northern Territory
Are you a passionate and experienced Registered Nurse seeking an adventure in remote healthcare in the Northern Territory? We are seeking dedicated Remote Area Nurses (RANs) to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive primary healthcare services in remote communities.
About the Role
As a Remote Area Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a culturally inclusive manner. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, contribute to health promotion activities, and provide emergency and acute care support as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Work in collaboration with the acute care team to provide evidence-based care.
* Deliver health promotion and education activities, participating in chronic disease and child health programs.
* Provide emergency care as per CARPA Standard Treatment and Clinical Procedures Manual.
* Support and mentor Aboriginal Health Practitioners, students, and other healthcare staff.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives, policy development, and performance appraisals.
* Administer routine vaccinations and track specialist referrals.
* Provide after-hours emergency response support on a rotating on-call roster.
* Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and regulatory health standards.
Essential Criteria
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
* 3-5 years of post-graduate experience with advanced clinical skills in remote area nursing.
* Valid Remote Emergency Care or Advanced Life Support certificate.
* Accredited immunisation certificate (recognised in NT).
* NT Working with Children Check Card.
* Remote Pharmacotherapeutic certificate or willingness to obtain.
* Experience working autonomously in a multidisciplinary team setting.
* Strong understanding of Indigenous culture and the social determinants of health.
* Ability to triage and provide emergency first response support.
* Willingness to travel in small charter planes and operate a 4WD vehicle.
* Strong communication, documentation, and computer skills.
Desirable Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualifications in emergency nursing, pediatrics, primary health care, or public health.
* Current Maternity Emergency Course certificate (or equivalent).
* Four-wheel drive experience.
