An outstanding leadership opportunity exists for an experienced Mining Manager to join my client at the Carmichael Mine in Queensland.
This is a pivotal operational leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of mine production to deliver safety, environmental, budget, tonnage and quality targets. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will provide strategic direction and hands‐on operational leadership across site-based mining activities.
The Role
As Mining Manager, you will:
* Lead all mining operations to achieve production KPIs safely and efficiently
* Ensure compliance with statutory, contractual and environmental obligations
* Oversee Mining Superintendents, Mine Planning Engineers, Environmental Compliance and Site Administration teams
* Drive operational improvement initiatives and cost optimisation strategies
* Provide reprioritisation and direction across operational activities as required
* Monitor project costs in line with budgetary and contractual requirements
* Lead performance management and workforce capability development
* Ensure adherence to the Site Safety & Health Management System
You will also step into the capacity of Operations Manager as required.
About You
You are a proven coal mining leader with extensive experience delivering results across open‐cut operations. You bring strong commercial acumen, operational discipline and the ability to lead large contract mining teams.
Key Requirements:
* Extensive experience in coal mining operations
* Demonstrated leadership within contract mining environments
* Strong cost control and production optimisation experience
* Current QLD Coal Board Medical & Standard 11
* G1, G8, G9 competencies (formerly S1, S2, S3)
* Ability to pass site client approval interview
A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline is highly regarded but not essential for the right operational leader.
Roster & Location
* 5/2/4/3 roster
* Preference for Rockhampton (ROK) or Townsville (TSV) residential
* Brisbane‐based candidates will be considered (commercial flight to ROK, then site transfer)
