About the role
As a Psychologist, you’ll make a positive impact by working as part of a multidisciplinary team within a health centre setting supporting the diverse mental health needs of military members. You will manage crisis presentations, conduct risk assessments and contribute to risk management planning. You will support ADF Members with their initial intake and assessment and have flexibility to accommodate presenting needs. You will be involved in case formulation, treatment planning, programmatic treatment interventions and care coordination.

About ADF Health Services
In partnership with Bupa, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force personnel across Australia, including defence-ready clinical and support staff across 45+ on-base locations to ensure access to quality on-site medical care.
About Gaza Ridge Health Centre
The Gaza Ridge Health Centre is located on Gaza Ridge South at Bandiana near Wodonga. The Albury Wodonga Military Area includes three barracks and serves over 5000 Defence Force members, providing primary medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health and pharmaceutical care. There is a 20-bed ward operating 24/7. Standard operating hours are 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday, with weekend and on-call shifts as required by role.
Qualifications and requirements
- The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in mental health in a primary health or specialist mental health setting undertaking comprehensive mental health assessment and delivering a range of evidence-based focused psychological strategies as defined under the Medicare Schedule
- Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification
- Knowledge of relevant state/territory policies and procedures and national standards governing mental health practice (desirable)
- Knowledge of the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy (desirable)
Additional notes
- You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance for this role
- You don’t need to be enlisted in the Defence Force to work as a civilian on-base and your job stays here, even if the Defence personnel you care for are deployed
