The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and tech savvy Safety and Quality Officer to join our team in Hervey Bay.
This is a highly motivated role suited to someone who enjoys balancing time between the production floor and the office. You will play a critical role in strengthening safety culture at our Hervey Bay facility while supporting safety and quality initiatives across the broader CLS group.
Working closely with the Group Head of People and Safety (based in Airlie Beach) and reporting day-to-day to the Hervey Bay Operations Manager, you will help ensure our Safety Management Framework is not only compliant but actively lived throughout the laundry floor.

Key Responsibilities
Site Safety Leadership – Hervey Bay
* Maintain a visible safety presence on the plant floor, proactively identifying hazards and supporting risk mitigation.
* Ensure compliance with CLS policies, procedures and WHS legislative requirements.
* Conduct safety inspections, incident investigations and corrective action tracking.
* Support leaders with risk assessments, SOP development and safe work practices.
* Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, engagement and consistent follow-through.
Group Safety and Quality Support
* Complete internal audits and assist with external audits across multiple CLS sites.
* Support the administration of safety and quality systems, registers and documentation.
* Maintain a basic working knowledge of quality management systems, supporting compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
* Analyse incident and audit data to identify trends and recommend practical improvements.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with CLS strategic objectives.
Training and Development
* Develop practical, engaging safety and operational training content for implementation across all sites.
* Ensure training materials remain current with legislative and operational requirements.
* Support the rollout of group training programs and learning initiatives.
Systems and Digital Enablement
* Assist in building and maintaining SharePoint sites to support safety, quality and operational documentation.
* Improve the structure and accessibility of safety resources to enhance usability for leaders and employees.
* Support ongoing digital transformation within the safety and quality functions.
Reporting Structure
* Direct Report: Group Head of People and Safety (Airlie Beach)
* Operational Reporting: Hervey Bay Operations Manager

About You
You are practical, organised and confident operating within a fast-paced industrial environment. You understand that effective safety is built through presence, relationships and consistency — not just paperwork.
Essential:
* Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or working towards).
* Experience in a safety-focused role within manufacturing, logistics or industrial environments.
* Sound understanding of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Excellent attention to detail and administrative capability.
* Ability to build trust with people and foster a positive safety culture.
* Technologically savvy, with confidence using workplace systems and the ability to quickly learn new platforms.
Highly Regarded:
* Experience developing training materials.
* Exposure to quality systems and audit processes.
* Experience building or administering SharePoint sites.
