SMP Estimator
to join their team in either the
Newcastle or Sydney office.
Job Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate cost estimates, including cost escalation analysis.
* Conduct detailed material quantity take-offs to develop bills of quantities.
* Support the development of construction methodologies, project programs, and submission documentation.
* Develop estimates from first principles using site productivity rates.
* Identify gaps or request clarification via RFIs to ensure complete tender packages.
* Review designs and engineering specifications for cost efficiency.
* Validate and review subcontractor pricing across all disciplines.
* Deliver detailed, traceable tenders and provide support throughout pre-contract and project delivery phases.
* Coordinate team activities and lead tender cost estimate review meetings.
* Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders, maintaining strong professional relationships.
Requirements
* Experience in engineering and resource industries.
* First-principles estimating experience with hydraulic/mechanical piping and equipment.
* Previous exposure to Defence, construction, process/non-process infrastructure, or water/wastewater treatment projects is advantageous.
* Strong financial and commercial acumen.
* Confident in raising RFIs and clarifying tender requirements.
* Professional, self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
* Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
