Then you could be the perfect Anaesthetist to join the professionals at Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD). We're looking for a qualified Anaesthetist who can:
- Support the development of anaesthetic services 
- Support and facilitate a culture of learning and best practice 
- Support and develop anaesthesia research within the department 
- Commit to join our team for a minimum of two 10-hour shifts per week 
- Be confident working on a variety of cases including paediatric patients

**Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital** is a busy acute care facility with 211 beds, which provides emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services to around 22,000 patients each year. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit that incorporates High Dependency and Coronary Care beds and also provides Emergency Department services. As well as these clinical services, the hospital has a busy Obstetric Unit, and provides services for children under 16 years of age.
Shoalhaven Hospital is affiliated with the University of Wollongong and supports the training of Nursing, Medical and Allied Health staff. As such there are teaching and research opportunities through the UOW Graduate School of Medicine.
ISLHD leadership is strongly committed to facilitating clinical research. Tangible evidence of this commitment is the significant investment in the infrastructure to support research. ISLHD has a well 
- developed research support unit that offers staff an extensive range of research support services including: assistance in the development of the research study design, biostatistics support, data analysis, and help writing final research publications, as well assistance with the ethics and governance processes.
**Selection Criteria**
1. Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) within six months.
2. Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and/or equivalent specialist recognition or eligible for Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and/or equivalent specialist recognition within six months.
3. Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
4. Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high-quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.
5. Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students and other staff of the hospital.
6. Demonstrate the skills and attitudes appropriate as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.
8. Demonstrated experience in and commitment to research relevant to the role and needs of the Department.

Applications from **Staff Specialists** are also welcome. Salary for permanent 1 FTE **_$186,241 - $251,618_** **plus superannuation guarantee levy and any other applicable allowances as per the Staff Specialist State Award.
