About The Opportunity
Council has opportunities for enthusiastic, motivated individuals to join the Transport Infrastructure Team in Orange and Cudal as Road Maintenance Officers.
The primary purpose of this role is to contribute as a member of a team providing a broad range of road maintenance and construction activities, including machinery operation and drainage works, while ensuring cost-efficient service delivery, a safe working environment, and adherence to standards.
Work teams are led by a supportive and proactive leadership team. Support and training aligned with Council's values will be provided to help you learn the role and ensure resilience, adaptability, and performance to meet Council and community expectations.

This full-time position operates over a 38-hour week with a 9-day fortnight, with opportunities for overtime.

Detailed Responsibilities
Work as a team member to effectively undertake roadworks, including:
Road construction and maintenance activities
Traffic control duties
Manual works
Roadside maintenance
Site inductions and toolbox meetings
Completing relevant records such as timesheets, checklists, risk assessments
Light plant maintenance and operation within certification capabilities
Working outside normal hours and overtime, including emergency repairs

Essential
Construction Induction Certification (White Card)
Class C drivers' licence
Effective communication skills
Team commitment, reliability, punctuality
Positive attitude
Desirable
Class HR driver’s licence
Chainsaw Certification
Traffic Control Plans and Traffic Controller Certification
Additional Details
Employment under the Local Government (State) Award 2023
Grade 3-4 in Council's salary system
Weekly wage: $1,044.10 to $1,180.50, depending on qualifications and experience
