About Westhaven & The Role
Westhaven is and will continue to be the provider of choice for disability support services and accommodation across regional NSW. We provide client‑centric, high‑quality programs and activities that provide whole‑of‑life support for people with disability, enabling choice and control.
Westhaven is seeking a dedicated Caseworker to support and advocate for Children and Young People living with significant disability to live life the way they choose. As a Caseworker you will coordinate casework responsibilities for children and young people (CYP) within Westhaven, specifically working as part of a Therapeutic Care Team.
Key Responsibilities
* Work as part of a Therapeutic Care Team, managing the casework cycle for children and young people in care.
* Ensure Case Plans are developed, reviewed and implemented within set timeframes.
* Maintain regular contact with children and young people, seek their views and opinions and monitor their wellbeing.
* Ensure that data is collected and recorded in a timely way.
* Ensure that Casework is conducted consistent with the requirements of the NSW Office of the Children's Guardian (OCG).
Essential Requirements
* Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a relevant Behavioural Science; or be of Indigenous decent and be willing to obtain qualifications.
* Have knowledge and understanding of the Children and Young Person (Care and Protection) Act 1998, NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care and trauma informed practices.
* Understand the supports and issues of children and young people living with significant disabilities.
* Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families and children specifically in relation to the placement of Aboriginal children and young people in OOHC.
* A current NSW Driver's licence.
* The ability to obtain and maintain a paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC).
