**About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission**
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent
agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and
services. The NDIS Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers
in Australia and a non-corporate entity under the _Public Governance, Performance and _
- Accountability Act 2013_.
**The NDIS Commission's core legislative functions are to**:
- uphold the rights of, and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of, people with
disability receiving supports or services, including those received under the National
Disability Insurance Scheme
- develop a nationally consistent approach to managing quality and safeguards for
people with disability receiving supports or services, including those received under
the National Disability Insurance Scheme
- promote the provision of advice, information, education and training to NDIS
providers and people with disability
- secure compliance with relevant legislation through effective compliance and
enforcement arrangements, including through the monitoring and investigation
functions conferred on the NDIS Commissioner by legislation
- promote continuous improvement amongst NDIS providers and the delivery of
progressively higher standards of supports and services to people with disability
- develop and oversee the broad policy design for a nationally consistent framework
relating to the screening of workers involved in the provision of supports and
services to people with disability
- engage in, promote and coordinate the sharing of information to achieve the objects
of the relevant legislation, and
- provide NDIS market oversight, including:
i. by monitoring changes in the NDIS market which may indicate emerging
risk; and
ii. by monitoring and mitigating the risks of unplanned service withdrawal.

**About the Division**
The Complaints and Engagement Division supports better outcomes for participants and is
committed to upholding the rights of NDIS participants, to elevate quality and safety and
enable consumer independence. The Complaints and Engagement Division is comprised of
the Complaints and Incidents Branch and the Communications, Education and Engagement
Branch.
**About this opportunity**
The Business Manager will operate to plan, organise, direct, control and review day-to-day
operations of the division/branch. They will coordinate business and governance activities
with the Division and the other parts of the Commission.
Complaints & Engagement Divisional Operations and Improvement Team (DOIT) provides
essential operational, administrative, and strategic support to the Division, enabling them to
effectively achieve their goals and contribute to the NDIS Commissions objectives.
**Key duties of the role**
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. providing high-level business management support and advice,
2. lead and implement process and workflow improvements across the Division,
3. supervise and direct work priorities, allocate work and identify training needs for
staff,
4. develop and coordinate governance and reporting responsibilities in line with the
Commonwealth Performance Framework and the Public Governance Performance
and Accountability (PGPA) Framework,
5. develop and manage strategic briefs, reports, business cases, risk registers and
schedules and critical documentation,
6. implement and maintain a risk management framework consistent with the
Commonwealth Risk Management Policy, including risk identification, assessment,
mitigation and reporting, and
7. developing and implementing business process improvements to facilitate the
effective operation of the Division; including working with staff across the NDIS
Commission to implement change.
