Professor and Assistant Associate Dean, Psychology

About You

RMIT isseeking a senior academic leader to take on the combined role of Professor andAssistant Associate Dean (Head of Discipline), Psychology within the School ofHealth and Biomedical Sciences.

This is afixed-term appointment (3 years) as Assistant Associate Dean (AAD), underpinnedby a continuing Professorial position. The successful candidate will lead thePsychology discipline while maintaining their own academic and researchactivity.

As Professor, you will be an established and respected researcher in Psychology, with astrong track record in research, teaching, and academic leadership. You will beexpected to make a significant contribution to the strategic direction of theschool and the discipline, mentor academic staff, and maintain national andinternational research partnerships.

As AssistantAssociate Dean (Head of Discipline), you will be a key member of theSchool's leadership team. The role carries responsibility for overseeing theacademic performance and strategic development of the Psychology discipline,including curriculum quality, research leadership, staffing, and resourcemanagement. You will lead and support staff to deliver excellence in bothlearning and teaching and research, and you'll be instrumental in drivingtransformation and innovation across the discipline.

This rolewill contribute to delivering digitally enabled, student-centred learning andadvancing the School's research profile. The AAD will work across the Collegeand with external partners to align the discipline's direction with broaderinstitutional goals.

While thePsychology discipline has emerging research strengths in areas such as women'smental health, cognitive and neurobiology, and the mental health of thehealthcare workforce, we strongly encourage applicants with diverse researchbackgrounds in psychology.

To besuccessful in this position, you'll have?but not limited to the following KeySelection Criteria:

* Demonstrated strategic leadershipwithin a large organisational unit or University-wide initiative, with theability to lead teams, influence positive change, and deliver on sharedstrategic objectives in a collegiate and collaborative environment.
* An internationallyrecognised research track record, with a strong history of researchoutputs, sustained success in attracting external funding, and experiencein leading high-performing research teams. Proven ability to attract andsupervise higher degree by research (HDR) candidates.
* A demonstrated record ofexcellence and innovation in teaching, underpinned by a deep understandingof contemporary learning and teaching theory and practice, including theuse of technology in pedagogy. Experience in managing award programs andleading curriculum reviews.
* Strong knowledge of relevanttrends, priorities and developments in the psychology discipline andbroader health or higher education sectors, including a clearunderstanding of industry needs and how these translate into academicprograms and research impact.
* Capacity to think strategicallyand act tactically to align discipline priorities with broaderorganisational goals. Experience with governance, financial and qualitymanagement systems in a university setting.
* High-level interpersonal,communication, influencing and negotiation skills, including the abilityto consult, network and engage effectively with senior stakeholders,academic and professional staff, and external partners.
* Demonstrated ability to foster aculture of collaboration, share knowledge across teams, and build stronginternal and external partnerships, including national and internationalresearch and professional networks.

MandatoryQualifications:

* PhD in a relevant field.

About theSchool of Health and Biomedical Science

The School ofHealth and Biomedical Sciences comprises three Academic Departments:

* Clinical Sciences
* Health Sciences (Psychology is adiscipline within this Department)
* MedicalSciences

Primarilybased at the RMIT Bundoora campus, we undertake teaching and research acrossthe disciplines of: Biomedical Science, Laboratory Medicine, MedicalRadiations, Nursing, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine, Pharmacy,Pharmaceutical Science, Physiotherapy and Postgraduate Psychology.Undergraduate Psychology is delivered at RMIT's Melbourne City campus. Wealso deliver an online Graduate Diploma in Psychology and are the AcademicOrganisational Unit responsible for the Bachelor of Psychology at two locationsin Vietnam.

The School'sresearch was ranked as well above world standard in clinical science, medicalphysiology, microbiology, complementary and alternative medicine andpharmacology & pharmaceutical sciences, and above world standard inpsychology, public health & health service and medical & healthsciences. As a School we have a strategic focus on chronic disease andintegrative health care with globally distinctive research strengths inrespiratory health, neuroinflammation, translational immunology and infection,cancer diagnostics and therapeutics, and cross-cutting themes of: LifestyleMedicine, Digital Health, Indigenous Health, Ageing in Health & Disease,and Medical Devices, Diagnostics and Prognostics. Research and Learning andTeaching innovation within the School is supported by a large multidisciplinarystudent-led health clinic (that provides a large proportion of the clinicalplacement training for Clinical Psychology students), digital humananatomy facility, state-of-the-art equipment and laboratories aswell as a significant number of national and international partners.
