Where You'll Be Working
You will be based within the Paediatric Oncology Service at John Hunter Children's Hospital, part of Hunter New England Health.
John Hunter Children's Hospital provides specialised paediatric care to children and families across Northern NSW. The Paediatric Oncology Service delivers comprehensive cancer care in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment focused on clinical excellence, safety, and family-centred practice.
You'll work closely with paediatric oncologists, nurses, and allied health professionals, with strong support from pharmacy leadership and senior paediatric pharmacists.
About the Role
As the Pharmacist Team Leader – Paediatric Oncology, you will lead the delivery of high-quality oncology pharmacy services within the children's hospital.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing advanced clinical oncology pharmacy services in a paediatric setting
* Leading service planning and development for the oncology pharmacy stream
* Overseeing safe and effective medication management for complex oncology patients
* Supervising, mentoring, and supporting professional development of pharmacy staff
* Contributing to education and training within the oncology service
* This is a senior clinical leadership role combining expert practice with team leadership and service improvement.

About You
You are a registered pharmacist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and bring:
* Significant experience delivering advanced clinical oncology pharmacy services
* Preferably, experience in a paediatric or children's hospital setting
* High-level clinical reasoning, judgement, and problem‐solving skills
* Demonstrated leadership capability, including supervision and mentoring of staff
* Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary collaboration
* You are confident, knowledgeable, and passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people undergoing cancer treatment.
Additional Information
* This position is full time; however, part time or job share arrangements may be considered.
* To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
