Where You'll Be Working
Join a large, contemporary Mental Health Centre based at Mater Hospital, Waratah, delivering specialist acute inpatient care across five units and 100 beds. You'll be part of a collaborative, recovery-focused service that values holistic care and the vital role of nutrition in mental health outcomes.
About The Role
This part-time (0.37 FTE / 14 hours per week) position is offered across two days per week in a job-share arrangement, providing genuine flexibility and work–life balance. The contract runs from 2 February 2026 to 24 March 2027.
The role is classified at Level 3, however Level 1 or Level 2 Dietitians are encouraged to apply, with a structured development plan and support available.
Role
In this role, you'll deliver specialised dietetic care to inpatient consumers, supporting nutritional assessment and management across a diverse range of presentations, including:
* Psychosis, mood and personality disorders
* Eating disorders and disordered eating
* Malnutrition and poor oral intake
* Metabolic syndrome and diabetes
* Food insecurity and complex nutrition-related risks
You'll work closely within a multidisciplinary mental health team, contributing your expertise to improve physical health outcomes alongside mental health recovery.
You'll receive a comprehensive orientation and onboarding program, access to professional supervision, and ongoing education and training opportunities. Continuous learning and professional growth are actively encouraged and supported.

Requirements
* Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in nutrition and dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia.

Additional Information
* This is a Level 3 position. However, if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 will be considered. The selection criteria reflects the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with his/her years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.
* An eligibility list will be created for future temporary part time vacancies.
* To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. application of interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
* Demonstrated extensive experience using and interpreting nutrition assessments and provision of evidence based trauma informed therapeutic interventions (individual and group) for consumers with a mental illness and their families/carers.
