West Moreton Health Oral Health Services provides emergency and comprehensive dental care to eligible residents throughout the West Moreton region.
Public dental services are delivered in a range of facilities including mobile vans, school and community dental clinics. Clinical Services are provided by dentists, dental specialist, dental prosthetists, an orthodontist and oral health/dental therapists supported by administrative officers, dental assistants and dental technicians. The service provides health promotion and education through the Oral Health Promotion van and partnerships with local organisations.
About this role
The role of a Dental Assistant is to work as part of the dental team and provide a high standard of assistance, as needed, in the treatment of patients by Oral Health Service staff and provide efficient and appropriate services.
About you
- Knowledge of dental terminology and surgery procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, instruments, materials, medicaments and procedures including safety procedures, Material Safety Data Sheets and Workplace Health and Safety regulations relating to the dental facility.
- Working knowledge of the various acts, regulations and all relevant Standards that relate to dentistry.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-skilled team.
- Ability to effectively co-ordinate procedures related to the oral health environment.
- High level interpersonal skills, organisational skills and communication skills.
- Previous experience in Dental Assisting is essential.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 12/21 and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
- Appointment to this position requires an employee to possess a pre-requisite qualification of a Certificate III in Dental Assisting, or equivalent.
