About the Role:The Electrician will be responsible for the hands-on electrical assembly, wiring, and commissioning of Xefco’s plasma fabric coating systems. Working within a project-based matrix that integrates Research and Engineering, the role supports in delivering reliable and scalable transition of plasma process developments into production-ready machinery. This includes control panel builds, machine wiring, high-voltage power supply integration, sensor and actuator termination, and supporting system testing and fault finding. The position requires close collaboration with engineers, assembly technicians and research personnel to ensure electrical builds meet performance, safety, and manufacturability requirements. This role reports to Workshop Manager of the Engineering team.
Responsibilities:Electrical assembly and wiring installation of industrial machineryBuild and wire control panels, junction boxes, and machine looms per standards (AS/NZS, IEC, UL, etc.)Install and terminate motors, sensors, valves, actuators, and safety systemsLabel circuits, breakers and other componentsWork with high-voltage power supplies and plasma equipmentAssist with machine testing, commissioning, and fault finding and mark-up drawingsModify and improve electrical builds as designs evolve and/or as per site constraintsEnsure builds meet electrical standards and workshop safety requirements (PPE, LOTO etc)
Requirements:Trade qualified Victorian A-Grade Electrician with current licence5+ years of experience in industrial machine builds, prototyping or production environmentsConfident reading wiring diagrams and electrical schematicsPractical, detail-oriented and comfortable working hands-on every dayAble to work independently while collaborating with engineers and techniciansExposure to control systems, PLC I/O, VFDs or automation hardwareHigh voltage and power electronics experience is desirableExperience wiring special-purpose machinery is advantageous
