Ready to help build trusted data products across Australia and New Zealand? As a Data Engineer Analyst in our Risk & Regulatory Activation Data team, you'll design and deliver reliable data pipelines, validation frameworks, and reporting that ensure timely, accurate, and auditable data for APRA, ASIC, and other regulatory obligations.
You'll play a key role in strengthening compliance, reducing data risk, and improving assurance outcomes—enabling smarter, regulation‐informed decision making and sustained regulator confidence.
You'll also drive capability uplift through automation, enhanced data assurance, and responsible use of Generative AI to streamline regulatory workflows and support futureready data solutions.
This permanent role offers a flexible hybrid work model and is open for applications in Gadigal Country (Sydney) or Naarm (Melbourne).
What You'll Do
* Work closely with stakeholders across Regulatory Affairs, Risk, Product, Assurance, and Data Governance teams to interpret complex regulatory and assurance requirements.
* Design, build and maintain scalable, production‐grade data pipelines and interfaces aligned to regulatory standards, validation expectations, and submission timelines.
* Develop and embed data validation, reconciliation, and quality frameworks that support traceability, lineage, assurance, and audit readiness for regulated data assets.
* Apply strong coding and engineering practices using GCP technologies (SQL, Python) and manage delivery through tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Git.
* Collaborate with data product and risk teams to ensure alignment with operational risk frameworks, prudential standards (for example CPS 230), and enterprise compliance obligations.
* Support the full regulatory reporting lifecycle, from data extraction and transformation through validation, signoff, assurance review, and post‐submission insights.
* Operate in a Forward Deployed Software Engineering (FDSE) model, embedding with business and regulatory teams to codesign, build, and deliver compliant data solutions in fast‐moving regulatory environments.
* Champion capability uplift through automation, modern data tooling, and emerging techniques, including responsible use of Generative AI to improve regulatory efficiency, documentation quality, and analytical insight.
* Stay across evolving regulatory expectations and contribute to continuous improvement of data engineering, assurance, and governance practices.
What You'll Bring
* 7+ years' experience in data engineering, regulatory analytics, or enterprise data delivery within a financial services or similarly regulated environment.
* Strong hands‐on capability in SQL, Python, SAS, DBT, Git, data modelling and mapping, with demonstrated experience on Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Airflow, MC, Collibra, Cloud Functions and related services).
* Sound understanding of regulatory compliance, prudential standards, assurance concepts, and data governance principles.
* Experience implementing automated validation, reconciliation, and quality controls to support assurance and audit requirements.
* Strong knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and production support.
* Exposure to metadata management, data lineage, privacy controls, and assurance tooling is highly desirable.
* Experience with DBT, data cataloguing tools, and maintaining end‐to‐end traceability across regulatory submissions will be well regarded.
* Able to manage competing priorities, work effectively under pressure, and operate confidently in fast‐paced regulatory environments.
What We Offer
* Boosted superannuation with 13% as standard.
* 20 days annual leave + 5 days MyLeave (extra leave for what's important to you).
* Work from home and many more flexibility options with myFlex.
