major Defence capability delivery program (maritime domain)
and is seeking an experienced
Systems Engineer
to support engineering activities across Royal Australian Navy platforms.
This role sits within a highly governed Defence environment and focuses on engineering planning, stakeholder coordination, and delivery of platform-specific outcomes in line with Defence standards and governance frameworks.

About the Role
The Systems Engineer will work closely with Engineering Managers, Installation Managers, and Defence stakeholders to plan, approve, and deliver engineering activities in accordance with Navy platform requirements.
The role involves coordinating engineering issue resolution, supporting approval workflows, identifying risks and dependencies, and contributing to high-quality engineering documentation and briefings. Interstate travel and physical boarding of Navy vessels during maintenance periods will be required.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute engineering plans aligned to Navy platform and sustainment requirements
* Coordinate Defence engineering issue resolution and approval activities
* Engage with Defence stakeholders, Navy platform authorities, and sustainment partners
* Work closely with Engineering and Installation Managers to ensure engineering readiness and delivery
* Identify, manage, and report on engineering risks, issues, dependencies, and opportunities
* Maintain engineering governance, controls, and documentation
* Prepare engineering briefs, reports, and project documentation
* Support cost analysis and due diligence activities
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Degree qualification in Engineering (or equivalent)
* Demonstrated experience as a Systems Engineer within Defence environments
* Navy platform or maritime systems experience
* Strong understanding of Defence engineering governance and approval processes
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* High attention to detail and strong process discipline
Desirable
* Experience within Defence Maritime programs
* Exposure to Defence Capability Lifecycle projects
* Experience working with Navy platform authorities or sustainment organisations
