About the Role LGC Rail Services is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to provide specialist expertise across civil and rail infrastructure projects.
This role is critical to ensuring mechanical systems and equipment are designed, installed, and maintained to meet stringent safety, quality, and operational standards.Your expertise will support major works such as: Installation of above-ground galvanized pipe on the PTA/Arc network Shoring calculations for deep major pit installations in constrained areas .
Retaining wall calculations for PTA network projects.
Engineering sign-off and coordination for rail plant and equipment compliance.
Key Responsibilities Develop, review, and implement mechanical designs for rail and civil infrastructure projects.
Perform engineering calculations, technical assessments, and risk analyses to meet project specifications.
Collaborate with project managers, site teams, and contractors to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Assist with procurement, inspection, and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
Provide technical guidance to junior staff and contractors.
Drive process improvements, cost efficiencies, and safety initiatives.
Qualifications Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (recognised qualification).
Proven experience in mechanical engineering within civil, construction, or rail sectors.
Knowledge of Australian engineering standards and workplace safety regulations.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
