The Department
The Alfred’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is one of Australia’s leading ICUs, admitting approximately 3,000 patients per year. It is a university-affiliated, quaternary referral centre, providing state services for major trauma, heart and lung transplantation (including paediatric lung transplantation), artificial heart technology, ECMO, burns, and hyperbaric medicine. It also offers Victoria Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary Hypertension services.
Data and Analytical Services
Part of finance, DAS provides specialised data management, analysis, and reporting services to Alfred Health, supporting key corporate applications.
The Role
This position involves working within the ICU to support operational, quality improvement, auditing, and research activities. You will collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and the ICU leadership team to meet their data needs, including data collection, management, database development, presentation, and limited statistical analysis. The role requires close collaboration with DAS, which will provide technical support and mentorship. You will be based at DAS 1-2 days per week and must meet data governance and training requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor of Science or Applied Science or equivalent (desirable), preferably with health, statistics, or IT experience
* Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive experience in health information management or related fields
* Three years’ experience with databases (desirable)
* Excellent IT skills with databases and reporting tools
* Experience in performance reporting and data analysis
