Our Day Centre in Palmerston offers a safe, welcoming space for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or vulnerability — providing access to showers, laundry, meals, and wraparound support services.
About the Role
We are seeking a Wellbeing Support Worker to join our dedicated Day Centre team. This hands-on role provides frontline support and case coordination to clients accessing the centre. You’ll assist with triage, referrals, and day-to-day operations while maintaining a culturally safe and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome and support clients to access showers, laundry, lockers, and meal facilities.
Provide information and referrals to housing, health, legal, and social services.
Assist with food preparation and maintaining cleanliness of communal areas.
Build trusting relationships with clients through trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
Work collaboratively with partner organisations such as Lutheran Care and Larrakia Nation.
Maintain accurate records and reporting in line with Yilli Housing policies.
About You
Experience in community or homelessness services.
Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
Ability to de-escalate situations and manage sensitive conversations.
Knowledge of NT service networks (housing, AOD, health, mental health, financial).
Strong communication, teamwork, and administrative skills.
Desirable:
Qualification in Community Services or related field.
Lived experience of homelessness or housing insecurity.
Current First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, or AOD training.
