Cairns Art Gallery Precinct is located in the heart of the city and features three expertly renovated heritage buildings with a mix of local, Australian and Indigenous art. Volunteers will greet and engage with Gallery visitors across the Precinct to ensure a pleasant visit and security of artworks on display while maintaining a warm rapport with visitors. Volunteers also provide accurate information about Gallery exhibitions, Programs and Shop product to visitors.
We roster volunteers across 3 galleries - Courthouse, Mulgrave and Cairns Art Galleries.
VOLUNTEER TASKS:
Volunteers at the Gallery may be asked to undertake a range of tasks, including:
Front of House – Customer service
* Greet visitors to the Gallery in a friendly and professional manner and brief visitors on gallery guidelines in a way that is engaging and positive.
* Record visitor statistics accurately.
* Invigilate the Gallery, ensuring security of the artworks while maintaining a warm rapport with visitors.
* Ensure food and drink is not taken through the Gallery Spaces.
* Provide accurate information about Gallery exhibitions, Programs and Shop product to visitors.
* Provide appropriate assistance to visitors with specific needs and access requirements.
* Welcome and brief groups on Gallery guidelines to facilitate a smooth and enjoyable visit.
* Engaging the Duty Officer in the event of guest complaints.

Close to city bus stops. Council is currently providing parking in the Esplanade Lagoon car park. Volunteers provide their registration to the Gallery and will not be booked if parked in the Esplanade Lagoon car park between the rostered hours. We also reimburse parking if the council parking is full.
