As a Formwork Carpenter at Mana Civil PTY LTD, you are a critical member of the structural team, responsible for the precision construction of the "moulds" that define our civil projects. This role demands high-level technical skills in carpentry, a deep understanding of structural engineering requirements, and the ability to work at pace without compromising quality. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all concrete structures are formed accurately, safely, and to the highest standards expected by Mana Civil.
Australian work rights are required for this position.
POSITION SUMMARY
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of formwork solutions, from interpreting technical blueprints to the final stripping and cleaning of forms. Working primarily with timber, steel, and plywood systems, you will ensure that all forms are braced to withstand the pressures of heavy concrete pours common in civil environments. While this is a hands-on technical role, you will also be expected to mentor junior staff and collaborate closely with the Site Supervisor to ensure project timelines are met with precision.
. Formwork Construction & Engineering Compliance
* Precision Set-out: Interpret engineering drawings to accurately set out formwork lines and levels for pits, headwalls, and structural slabs.
* System Assembly: Construct, assemble, and install various formwork systems (traditional timber, modular, and engineered systems).
* Structural Integrity: Install robust bracing, tie-backs, and support systems to ensure formwork stability during concrete placement.
* Dismantling: Execute the safe and efficient stripping (striking) of formwork, ensuring minimal damage to the concrete surface and reusable materials.
. Quality Control & Technical Execution
* Tolerances: Ensure all formwork is within specified project tolerances (verticality, level, and dimensions) to meet Mana Civil's quality benchmarks.
* Material Prep: Cut, shape, and join timber and composite materials using specialised power and hand tools.
* Joints & Seals: Ensure all form joints are grout-tight to prevent leakage and honeycombing in the finished concrete.
* Embedded Items: Coordinate the installation of reinforcement spacers, water stops, and cast-in items (ferrules, anchor bolts, etc.).
3. Site Safety & Professionalism
* Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with working at heights, manual handling, and heavy lifting.
* Safety Compliance: Adhere to all SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements) and participate in daily toolbox talks and pre-start meetings.
* Tool Stewardship: Maintain and safely store all personal and company-issued tools and equipment.
* Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organised workspace to prevent accidents and material waste on site.
