About the Opportunity CommTel is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to support delivery of specialist telecommunications and network infrastructure projects. This multi‑disciplinary, operational project requires strong technical leadership, systems integration capability, and the ability to coordinate diverse stakeholders, with a commitment to safety, quality, and engineering excellence in a high‑performance, customer‑focused environment.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, review, and approval of scalable, secure and maintainable technical architectures
Analyse customer requirements and develop technical solutions, proposals and tender inputs
Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentorship across engineering, integration and project teams
Oversee solution implementation, documentation, testing and quality assurance to meet project and customer standards
Collaborate with customers, internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders while managing progress, risks and technical issues

About You You’re a proactive, solutions‑focused and technically strong professional who thrives in a dynamic, project‑driven engineering environment.
Qualifications
Degree‑qualified in Telecommunications, or Electronics Engineering, with extensive experience in complex communications projects
10+ years leading communications or infrastructure projects, including 7+ years in railway communications networks
Strong technical capability on some of the communications technologies including MPLS (IP and/or TP) networks, RF architectures, Microwave Radio, LTE/5G, Tetra, P.25, and backbone transmission networks
Proven experience developing and presenting network designs, documentation and testing procedures to industry standards
A self‑starter with excellent communication skills, able to lead teams, solve complex problems and manage multiple projects under pressure
