Join our Payments platform as a technical leader and play a key role in contributing to the architecture and engineering efforts for our Open Payments Platform. We're building a modern, real‐time Payments platform that is highly reliable, scalable, and based around no‐ops technology. What role will you play?

We are seeking a Senior Tech Lead Engineer to contribute to the architecture and engineering efforts for our Open Payments Platform (OPP). This is a great opportunity for a seasoned engineer ready to take on their next challenge and to help build out our Payments' future state.

In this important role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of the Open Payments Platform. Depending on the role, you will either drive the broader architectural vision and strategy or lead a dedicated team of engineers to deliver exceptional results. Reporting to senior engineering leadership, you will make critical technical decisions and champion a culture of reliability, performance, and operational excellence across the platform.

Your hands‐on approach and leadership will be key to implementing best‐practice design, ensuring our payment platforms are highly performant, reliable, and built to scale. You will help cultivate a culture of learning and mastery, guiding and mentoring engineers to excel in their craft.

What you offer

* A proven track record of designing and delivering large‐scale, high‐performance systems that are both robust and scalable.
* In‐depth and expert‐level, hands‐on experience working with Java and Spring Boot, coupled with experience in cloud technologies (GCP and AWS).
* Deep knowledge of microservices, event‐based architecture, design, and integration patterns.
* Solid understanding of how to build scalable, maintainable, and performant payment orchestration across multiple channels.
* Proven experience in leveraging AI throughout the SDLC, including hands‐on application of spec‐driven development.
* Demonstrated experience with modern AI development tools, including AI coding assistants and command‐line interfaces (e.g., roo code, Claude Code, Gemini CLI).
* Strong understanding of security best practices for financial transactions and payments.
* Demonstrated leadership in driving complex engineering initiatives. Experience in leading a project or a team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
* Ability to drive key architecture and design decisions across a team or platform.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to all levels of the organisation.
