About us

The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.

What we do is integral to the Government's decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer's money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.

We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.

We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.

The work area

This role sits within the Performance and Evaluation Group 1 (PEG1) Directorate which is part of the Strategic Policy and Evaluation business unit. The team covers all things health and mental health.

The opportunity

Are you passionate about contributing to health and mental health policies and initiatives in Western Australia? We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic leader to work closely with your team, partner agencies and central agency counterparts to provide strategic advice on the State Budget, including the Health and Mental Health portfolios and make a difference for Western Australia. In this role, you will:

* Lead the Team's development of advice to the senior Executive, Under Treasurer, Treasurer, and Government on the financial, social, and economic implications of new investment, policy or program proposals. This includes advice to the Expenditure Review Committee (ERC) and Major Infrastructure Expenditure Review Sub-Committee (MIERSC) of Cabinet on funding submissions from public sector agencies, and other economic, social and financial policy issues.
* Lead the Team in the financial management and reporting oversight of relevant agencies, and coordination of whole of government processes, including compilation of the State Budget and Mid-year Review publications.
* Be a key contributor to the broader DTF strategic directions and galvanise your team to collaborate across DTF and with external stakeholders.

We currently have
one (1) fixed term full-time position
available for filling within the Performance and Evaluation Group 1 team.
