Mt Thorley, NSW location – 12 Month Contract
The Role
The Development Chemist supports the development, improvement and optimization of DNL products, processes and technologies to deliver high-quality, cost-effective and customer-focused solutions. The role conducts laboratory testing, product formulation, raw material assessments and field trial coordination, while providing technical advice across the business. It also contributes to product quality control, ISO**** compliance and safe work practices, ensuring products perform reliably and meet regulatory, environmental and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Conduct laboratory testing, formulation work and product development to improve existing products and create new technologies.
Coordinate product performance, stability testing and field trials, ensuring safe and effective in-use performance.
Assess raw materials for cost effectiveness, quality and compatibility, and support product quality control processes.
Provide technical advice to customers and internal stakeholders to support safe, efficient use of IPL products.
Maintain accurate reporting, documentation and compliance with ISO ****, HSEC policies, and relevant legislation.
Troubleshoot product-related issues and support continuous improvement in laboratory practices, instrumentation and product chemistry.
What you'll bring
Ideally you will have exceptional analytical and testing skills, good technical report writing and communication skills and the ability to maintain strong relationships with key personnel in the Technology, Engineering, Customers and Operational departments.
Bachelor of Science majoring in Chemistry
Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: product development, product manufacturing, colloidal chemistry, organic chemistry, explosives chemistry
Excellent technical report writing and communication skills
A NSW Security clearance, a NSW Blasting Explosives Users Licence, experience with the delivery and use of blasting explosives in the field, knowledge of emulsion technology and UN classification testing and experience (desirable)
Ability to work unsupervised in a proactive manner
