An exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated, energetic and passionate Head of Department (Secondary) with a focus on Health, Physical Education and Sport driving innovation and agency in Health, Physical Education our range of diverse Sport Programs at Nambour State College in 2025.
This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis, until 12 December 2025, unless otherwise determined.
About The Role
Within this role you will play an integral role in overseeing the integration of digital and conceptual design to support students with a robust curriculum experience in both Junior and Senior Secondary. The Head of Department will have a record of success in providing quality learning outcomes for all students and leading school improvement.
As an instructional leader, the Head of Department will lead the development of students who are problem solvers and can move into the future with confidence and resilience. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with HPE HODs across other schools in our Assess to Engage program.
Responsibilities
As Acting Head of Department - Health, Physical Education and Sport, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following key initiatives:
* Drive the school's vision and values to foster an evolving, high-quality professional learning community, supporting students as globally-minded, future-focused citizens.
* Lead a collaborative and progressive Head of Department - Health, Physical Education and Sport, partnering with students, parents and industry to revolutionise Health, Sport and personal fitness and recreation across Nambour State College.
* Elevate and scale high-quality teaching and learning practices, aligning instruction with responsive, responsive pedagogies and authentic assessment.
* Oversee the Health and Physical Education curriculum across Years P-12, promoting digital literacy and critical thinking skills.
* Cultivate partnerships with tertiary institutions to advance sports performance pathways for students in our elite Academy Programs in Volleyball and Soccer.
* Manage a diverse team of teaching and technical staff, optimising human resources within the department.
* Manage our Sports programs with the Sports Coordinator to improve student participation and competition in district sport.
* Strengthen relationships with external stakeholders, including VET providers, to expand student access to vocational education pathways.
* Coordinate the Human Skills and Relationships program across the college in partnerships with the Student Support team.
