We are seeking a high-calibre Associate to join our Natural Resources Mergers & Acquisitions team in Sydney, working directly with senior advisers on complex domestic and cross-border transactions across mining, energy and broader natural resources sectors.
This role is suited to a technically strong, commercially minded individual who thrives in a rigorous deal environment and is motivated to build deep sector expertise in global resources.
The Opportunity
This is a hands‐on role in a high‐performance, senior‐led advisory team. You will take ownership of core analytical workstreams and help drive transaction execution, with a strong focus on:
* Financial modelling and valuation (DCF, trading comps, transaction comps and, where relevant, NAV)
* Company and sector research across the global resources landscape
* Preparation of client‐ready materials including pitch books, investment memoranda and board presentations
* Supporting deal execution including due diligence coordination, data room management and stakeholder engagement
* Working alongside senior advisers with meaningful exposure to clients and counterparties
Key Responsibilities
* 3–5 years' experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or a related advisory role
* Demonstrated exposure to M&A transactions (sell‐side/buy‐side, strategic advisory and/or capital raisings)
* Strong technical capability in financial modelling, valuation and analytical problem‐solving
* Proven ability to produce high‐quality research, comps and PowerPoint materials to a tight deadline
* Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
* Familiarity with financial databases and research platforms; AI / LLM proficiency to enhance research, analysis and productivity is desirable
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail
* Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‐paced deal environment
* Relevant tertiary qualification (finance, commerce, economics, engineering, geology or related discipline); CFA/MBA viewed favourably
* Australian work rights and willingness to travel as required
