This role is ideal for someone with strong hands‐on technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work closely with clients and cross‐functional teams to deliver resilient, secure, and high‐performing network solutions.
You will act as a technical SME on client engagements, contributing to network strategy, solution design, and operational excellence across mobile core and data centre environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, deploy, and support IP-based network solutions within telecom and enterprise environments.
* Configure, manage, and optimise routers, switches, firewalls, and network security platforms.
* Provide technical leadership on client engagements, representing the organisation and mentoring junior network engineers.
* Troubleshoot complex network incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing long‐term fixes.
* Implement and maintain network security controls, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network access control.
* Manage IP address allocation and ensure accurate IPAM documentation.
* Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend optimisation improvements.
* Plan and execute network upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities.
* Produce and maintain clear technical documentation aligned with Australian client and operational standards.
* Collaborate with stakeholders such as solution architects, delivery teams, vendors, and client technical leads.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
* Proven experience as an IP Network Engineer in a telecommunications or large enterprise environment.
* Strong knowledge of IP networking concepts and protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS preferred).
* Experience designing and implementing IP‐based mobile core or carrier‐grade networks.
* Hands‐on troubleshooting skills across complex and multi‐vendor environments.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders.
* Experience working in client‐facing or consulting‐style engagements.
Desirable
* Experience with data centre networking, including ACI and EVPN‐VXLAN architectures.
* Firewall and security policy design experience with Fortinet, Check Point, and/or F5 platforms.
* Familiarity with Australian regulatory and operational expectations in telco or critical infrastructure environments.
* Exposure to automation, scripting, or network tooling (Ansible, Python, NetBox, etc.).
Qualifications & Certifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Telecommunications, Networking, Engineering, or Computer Science.
* Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE (or equivalent) are highly regarded.
