AI Excellence Centre – Senior Data Scientist

Join a dedicated AI Excellence Centre made up of designers, developers, data scientists and analysts. The team partners with business experts to design and deliver innovative AI and digital products that transform the way services are delivered across multiple industries.
As a Senior Data Scientist, you'll be at the forefront of developing AI solutions and digital products. You'll work on diverse projects, leveraging your expertise in LLMs, machine learning and data engineering to solve complex challenges and deliver impact at scale.
What you'll do
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope, design and deliver AI-driven solutions
* Develop algorithms and heuristics to process, cleanse and normalise large-scale data
* Build and deploy clean, efficient code in cloud environments (Azure)
* Prototype, test and refine new ideas, review code and contribute to agile project lifecycles
* Share knowledge across forums and mentor junior colleagues
What you bring
* Strong Python development experience with modern ML/LLM frameworks
* Deep knowledge of LLM workflows, prompting and agentic workflows
* Experience with VectorDB (e.g. Azure AI Search, pgVector)
* Familiarity with ML models (regression, boosting) and deep learning (CNN, RNN)
* Strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL or equivalent) and Vector DB experience
* Ability to scale algorithms and apply statistical methods effectively
* Hands-on experience with RAG pipelines, evaluation and optimisation
* Background in cloud environments (Azure), containerisation (Docker), and microservices
* Knowledge of observability frameworks (OpenTelemetry), message-queuing (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and large-scale data pipelines
* Strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
* Bonus: TypeScript, ReactJS, NodeJS development experience
